PRO MOTOCROSS GLEN HELEN 2016

BRIAN CONVERSE WORDS: JACQUIE SHORTINO

The 250 Class awarded the hard charging under-the-radar superstar Alex Martin his first overall victory at Glen Helen. It was a podium sweep with the overalls for the Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha team -rounded out by the Martin brothers 1 and 2 and Cooper Webb 3rd. Rookie Austin Forkner landed a third on the podium first moto and set an impressive fastest lap time in moto two. This class has some sure fire talent setting the pace in just the first two rounds!

Ryan Dungey set out to lead moto 1 passing Canard who got the holeshot in the first lap. Ken Roczen passed Dungey and was able to command a 2.5 second lead until an issue with his forks occurred and he was unable to tackle those giant Glen Helen jumps. He was able to maintain the fast pace but would be passed by Dungey, Anderson and Tomac who claimed the first moto podium spots to land a disappointing fourth due to an unfortunate bike issue.

Roczen returned for second moto full of determination to reclaim his dominance. He grabbed the holeshot and tackled the mountain to take the win in second moto. Dungey would land second place in moto 2 and take the overall -with Roczen and Tomac second and third. Tomac’s hometown Colorado track is this weekend and will sure give the top two points leaders a run for their money at Thunder Valley!
